O.K. - in simpler terms,
it is a file that looks the same on screen and in print, regardless
of what kind of computer or printer someone is using and regardless
of what software package was originally used to create it. These PDF
files contain all of the fonts, formatting, colors and graphics of
the source document in a compact file.
The PDF format works on
all major systems, including Macintosh, Windows and UNIX.
Anyone, anywhere can open
a PDF file. All you need is the free viewer program Adobe Acrobat¨
ReaderŞ which allows you to view, navigate, and print out Adobe Portable
Document Format (PDF) files.

How
to View PDF Files
Once you have properly installed the Acrobat Reader, just double click
on a .pdf file icon to view it on your computer. These files will
usually be sent to you as an email attachment PDF files are indicated
by the following graphic following the filename. Or, the PDF file
can be viewed from a web site, such as the ones below:

How
to Print PDF Files
If you want to print an Adobe Acrobat PDF file from within your web
browser, do not use the web browser print option. Instead, use the
print button at the left end of the special Adobe Acrobat tool bar,
which appears immediately above the viewing window.
